Jedward, the duo who caused a national sensation on last year’s X Factor with their gravity defying quiffs and outrageous performances, are set to release their debut album Planet Jedward.

We chatted to Jedward about their gay following, growing up in the public eye, travelling the world and getting all the girls.

Firstly, tell us something about yourselves that you haven’t told another interviewer...
We have a few friends that are gay and they just need to be comfortable in their own skin! That’s why we love all our gay following and one of our dancers has a girlfriend.

What’s the best thing about being Jedward?
You get to have lots of fun and get all the girls. You get to meet lots of wonderful people and travel the world! And get free stuff!

What’s the most stressful thing about being Jedward?
That everyone is always taking pictures of us and videoing us. If we ever mess up it will be on camera. Basically, we are growing up in the public eye but we never really get stressed out.

You don’t get to see enough of your family and you don’t get enough sleep, but we wouldn’t change our life for anything. We have made so many sacrifices because this is something we really want and intend on doing for the rest of our lives.

Are you glad you went on X Factor?
We are so happy because the public got to see who we are, got to know us and saw what we are about. We have such a dedicated following and our fans are the nicest people in the world, we are not just saying that. They make us smile. We are the biggest fans of our fans, they are just so normal like us. They can relate to us because we are young and fresh and wanna make people happy.

Tell us about your new album – what can we expect? 
Pop, punk, rock - something for everyone! We had so much fun making it. It’s an album for the fans - it’s because of the love they show us and it means a lot to have their support. We realise we are nothing without all our fans and all our growing fanbase.

What are you most proud of about the album?
That we have had the freedom to express ourselves and that’s what Planet Jedward is all about! That it’s not just an album, but a movement, and not just about the music, but the attitude, life and inspiration we hope it will create.

How important do you think it is to build up a big gay following?
We are so proud of all our gay following. We think it's cool that we have the power to be universal and appeal to a wide range of people. We also love that people are comfortable with who they are.

If you could have one super power for a day, what would it be?
To fly because then we would have no limit and we could go to heaven to visit our pet gold fish.

If you had to change your hairstyle, what would you ask the hairdresser to do?
It would have to be something that no one would ever think of. Maybe a mohawk or a variation on our hair now.

What would be your fantasy gig?
To perform in Madison Square Garden in New York City.

What are your plans for the album and beyond?
Our dream has always been to have a number 1 album and a number 1 single. We have had so much fun working with some of the best producers and songwriters in the world! We are launching in Japan and Eastern countries later this year due to a huge demand.
